Bilingual Storytime: Counting

My bilingual family storytimes all follow the same outline, and I fill in the blanks with books, flannel stories, and activities!

This month I had a special request for counting, since one of our regular storytime attendees was learning to count to ten in Spanish at home.

Before we read this one, we reviewed vocabulary on the board with laminated pictures, and left them up with their names in Spanish throughout the story.

Book/activity: The artist who painted a blue horse, by Eric Carle. We looked at the book, and then I told the story in Spanish, holding up felt pieces as I went. We then added the words to the board and practiced vocabulary.
